A Prayer for Our Veterans

Lord Jesus,
We come before You today with humble hearts, recognizing that You, too, are no stranger to sacrifice and the weight of service. You understand the challenges, stress, and burdens our veterans have faced, whether they served on the frontlines or in support roles, whether in combat zones or in times of peace.
We lift up our veterans to You, those from Canada and the United States who have selflessly answered the call to serve. Each one has made profound sacrifices to protect our freedoms, standing as defenders of peace, liberty, and justice. Lord, they have faced hardships, both seen and unseen, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
We ask You to comfort them, Lord. Strengthen them through Your Holy Spirit. Meet each of them exactly where they are today—whether they feel strong or weary, whole or broken. Speak to their souls, filling any emptiness with Your boundless love and mercy. You have brought them through many trials and have seen them through many dark and difficult days. Help them see Your mighty hand at work in their lives, guiding, healing, and restoring them.
Lord, heal their hearts as well as their bodies. For those who carry wounds both visible and invisible, we ask for Your healing touch. Ease the pain of trauma, grief, and loss that may still linger, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give them comfort in the knowledge that their sacrifices are not forgotten and that they are valued and loved beyond measure.
We also pray for ourselves, Lord, that You would teach us to honor them as You would have us do. May we express our gratitude not only in words but in actions that reflect our sincere thanks. Help us never to forget the sacrifices they’ve made and the freedoms we enjoy because of them. Give us hearts that show them love, respect, and care, just as You love us.
Lord, bless our veterans and their families. Grant them the peace, comfort, and joy that come from knowing You. May they feel the deep appreciation of a grateful nation. In Canada, in the United States, and around the world, may they find rest in Your everlasting arms.
Amen 🙏
