God Dwells in Us
Stop and really think about this for a minute.
Scripture says it over and over, but almost nobody stops to really process it: God Himself, the Spirit of God, the Creator of everything, the One who made the entire universe, lives in you.
If you let that truth hit you, really hit you, it would change every part of your life. Every thought, every decision, every reaction. Every conversation. Every relationship. Everything.
Most people read that and move on. They nod, maybe quote it, but they never actually consider the magnitude. They never live like it.
Think about what it means. You are not just a person trying to get by. You are a temple. God is not somewhere distant. He is not just watching. He is inside you. Living in you. Thinking through you.
That is why Scripture says you are yoked to Jesus. Being yoked is not a suggestion. It is reality. You are in partnership with Him. When you go to sleep at night, He is with you. When you wake in the morning, He is with you. Every single moment, He is right there in you, guiding, directing, restraining, helping.
And here’s the point that nobody thinks about: if you actually surrendered your mind, your human reasoning, your instincts, and let Him think through you in every situation, your life would be completely different. Every struggle, every trial, every temptation, you would respond differently. Automatically. Without strife. Without panic. With peace. With wisdom. With clarity.
Think about everyday struggles people deal with:
You wake up stressed about bills. Most people panic, overthink, spiral into fear. But if you remember God lives in you, you can stop, take a breath, and say, “You see this. You know what I cannot see. Lead me.”
You lost your job and do not know how you are going to feed your family. Your mind races with worry and shame. But if God is thinking through you, your response changes. You do not give in to panic or despair. You look for His guidance. You make decisions with clarity. You act with faith instead of fear.
Your business is under pressure. You’re tempted to compromise your values or take a shortcut. But if God is in you, thinking through you, making decisions through you, your responses are measured, wise, and above reproach.
A spouse betrays your trust. You are flooded with anger, resentment, and hurt. Most people would react impulsively, lashing out or withdrawing. But if God is thinking through you, you pause. You respond from understanding, not from bitterness. You begin to rebuild or confront in a way that preserves peace, wisdom, and the possibility of restoration, instead of making everything worse.
Your child is struggling and making choices that put them in danger. You want to panic, yell, control, or try to force a solution. But if God is thinking through you, your words, your guidance, your patience, and your decisions carry clarity, authority, and love that your human mind alone could not produce. You become a conduit of His wisdom instead of acting out of your fear.
You are facing illness or an injury that limits your life. Most people respond with despair, frustration, and hopelessness. But if God is thinking through you, you respond with faith, with focus on what is possible, with gratitude for what remains, and with peace instead of panic. The stress that normally accompanies these trials is softened because you are not operating from human strength alone.
You are living in a broken system, under oppression, in financial hardship that seems impossible to overcome. Bills stack up. Opportunities are scarce. Stress is constant. You could spiral into hopelessness and resentment. But if God is thinking through you, your mind is not consumed by fear. Your decisions are measured. You find opportunity, peace, and clarity where you never would have seen it alone.
You are constantly faced with decisions, large and small, that reveal whether you are living aware of His presence. And most people are not. That is why so many Christians are exhausted, anxious, frustrated, and chasing life as if they are alone.
But the truth is you are never alone. You are yoked. That means your strength is not your own. Your wisdom is not your own. Your mind is not your own.
Replace your human thinking with His. Let Him make the decisions through you. Let Him handle situations you cannot control. Let Him guide your words, your tone, your reactions, your priorities.
This is not abstract. This is reality. And if you consistently live with this at the forefront of your mind, you will see life in a completely different way. Hardships become manageable. Relationships become easier. Decisions become clear. Your heart stops trying to control everything, because you are no longer operating independently.
Most people try to “do better” when life gets hard. They try harder. They pray more. They force themselves to stay calm or be patient. But without conscious awareness that God lives in you, these efforts are temporary. They are human. They rely on human energy and fail under pressure.
When you are fully aware that God lives in you, that human mind is no longer the driver. You stop trying to carry the full weight of life. You stop reacting to every fear, every pressure, every attack, every threat.
This is why peace becomes possible even in extreme hardship. Not because the hardship disappears, but because the Prince of Peace is not outside you. He is within you.
Prosperity in the biblical sense becomes possible. Not hype prosperity. Not wealth for ego. But stability. Clarity. Sound judgment. Discipline. Long-term vision. Because you are no longer reacting to circumstances. You are responding from a different source.
And here is the uncomfortable part.
Many people claim God lives in them, but their lives look no different from someone who does not believe. They panic when bills come due. They despair when jobs are lost. They compromise when pressure rises. They react in anger or fear in situations that require restraint and wisdom.
If God truly lives in you, then independence is an illusion. You are not your own. Your mind is not your own. Your body is not your own. Your life is not your own.
Replace human thinking with God’s thinking. Let Him guide. Let Him speak. Let Him restrain. Let Him act through you.
The difference is obvious. One person claims God lives in them. The other lives consciously aware that He does. That awareness changes every decision, every reaction, every relationship, every struggle.
Your marriage. Your business. Your finances. Your health. Your parenting. Your integrity under pressure. Every area is touched if you live conscious of Him.
God lives in you. And if you actually live conscious of that truth, everything changes. Not because life becomes easy, but because you are no longer carrying it alone.
And if you do not see this change in your life, then it is not because Scripture is wrong. It is because you are not truly living aware of who lives in you.
The temple is not a building. The temple is you.
And if that truth grips you, nothing about your life can stay the same.
