REVELATION 22:18

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll." (Revelation 22:18, NIV)

As Jesus said, this verse serves as a warning to those who would add or distort the words of the prophecy contained in the scroll of Revelation. It emphasizes the importance of preserving the integrity and truth of God's message. The Bible, as a whole, is a divine revelation, and we are called to respect and uphold its teachings.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus spoke about the significance of God's Word. He emphasized the need to hold it in high regard and not to alter its meaning. As The Bible says, in Matthew 5:18, Jesus declared:

"For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." (Matthew 5:18, NIV)

As Jesus said, this verse serves as a solemn warning to all who encounter the words of prophecy contained within the scroll of Revelation. It emphasizes the importance of preserving the integrity and authenticity of God's divine message. The Lord cautions against adding or altering the words of this prophecy, as doing so can have severe consequences.

Throughout the Bible, we are reminded of the significance of God's Word and the need to approach it with reverence and humility. As The Bible says, in Deuteronomy 4:2, "Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you." This principle applies not only to the book of Revelation but to the entirety of Scripture.

It is essential for us to diligently study and understand the Scriptures, seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit. By doing so, we can gain wisdom and discernment to interpret God's Word accurately and avoid any temptation to add or subtract from it. Let us hold fast to the truth revealed in the Bible and trust in the Lord's faithfulness to guide us on our spiritual journey.

These words of Jesus convey the eternal nature and unchanging authority of God's Word. It reminds us of the importance of treating the Scriptures with reverence and not tampering with its contents.
