The Only Peace You Will Ever Need
The Only Peace You Will Ever Need
Most look for it in circumstances. They think, If I could just change this situation, if I could have this possession, if I could be with that person, then I would finally have peace. If I could just change this circumstance and change that. If I could have this or have that. That's where they look for peace. They look in circumstances.
He said, no, it's not in circumstances, it's in a relationship. And until a person has a personal relationship, by faith, having surrendered themselves to Christ and then beginning to live obediently before him, there's not going to be any peace.
"Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27) My peace I give to you. He says this peace I'm offering is in me. It's in a relationship. And that relationship must be a relationship of faith and of obedience and of love toward him.
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord Himself, is the Rock eternal." (Isaiah 26:3-4)
You can search the world over. You can have all the world's wealth. You can travel here and afar. You can do anything and everything you want to do. There is ONLY one single source of peace. You say, I don't even believe in that Jesus. Then I'm telling you, you're not going to have any peace. Because how are you going to have it? The only thing you can do is try to control your circumstances. And you can't control them.
"You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." (James 4:14)
So where are you going to find peace? You have to resort to what Jesus said. And the world says, if I had this and had that and had this and had that, him, her, and all these things. But you can't control that. You can't do that. And even if you do, it's only temporary. Then when you come to die, then what are you going to do?
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)
There's one source of peace. And listen carefully. That peace is not found in possessions. It is not found in achievements. It is not found in people. It is found only in the Person of Jesus Christ. He alone can quiet the restless soul. He alone can speak peace into the storm.
"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)
He alone can forgive sin, remove guilt, and make you whole.
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 5:1)
And until your soul rests in Him, you will search and strive and grasp and never find what your heart is longing for.
"Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)
So stop running. Stop searching in empty places. Stop trying to fix what you cannot control. Lay it all down. Come to the only One who can give you the peace your heart is desperate for.
"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)
Turn from your sin. Believe in Him. Surrender to Him completely. Because there is no peace apart from Him. And there never will be.
"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 5:1)
Come to Jesus. Come now. Peace is found only in Him. Rest in Him. Believe in Him. Surrender to Him.
