You Love Him Without Seeing Him. That’s Real Faith
“Though you have not seen him, you love him and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:8-9)
Some mornings it feels like life is stacked against you. You wake up to a kitchen full of dirty dishes, a text that makes your stomach sink, and a list of things you do not even know where to start. You pour a cup of coffee and stare at it, hoping it will kick your brain into some kind of order, and you realize everything feels heavy.
And yet, somehow, you still reach for Him. You whisper a prayer in the shower, or in the car while traffic crawls, or just in the quiet of your bedroom, hoping He hears the jumble of your thoughts. That is real faith. Loving someone you have not seen, in the middle of life that does not make sense.
Think about the moments you have been disappointed. Maybe it was a friendship that fell apart, someone at work who undermined you, or even your own plans crashing in flames. And still, you get up the next day and try again. That is the same kind of quiet courage this passage speaks to. It does not feel heroic, but it is.
Joy in this faith is not loud or flashy. It is not a smile plastered on social media. It is the small moments. The relief when a friend finally shows up. The deep breath you take after a hard conversation with someone you love. The peace that settles when you stop trying to fix everything and simply let Him. That is the inexpressible joy. You cannot fully explain it, but you know it is real.
And then comes the part that hits deep. You are receiving the end result of your faith. The salvation of your soul. Not perfect days. Not easy answers. Not things always going your way. Your soul is being kept safe while the world does what it wants. That is what faith is holding on to when bills, deadlines, fear, and exhaustion pile up.
So if you are reading this and today feels heavy, messy, or unfair, remember this. You love Him without seeing Him. You trust Him even when the path is invisible. You carry a joy that the chaos of the world cannot touch.
This is not soft faith. It is not easy. It is alive. It is tested. And it is exactly what this new year needs. A faith that keeps showing up, even when the world tells you it does not make sense. A faith that does not collapse under pressure. A faith that says, “I may not understand today, but I trust Him anyway.”
Now think about how this plays out in real life. Maybe it is the parent who has not slept all week, trying to balance work, kids, and a marriage that feels stretched thin. You love Him in the moments no one sees. You pray even when the baby cries, even when the teenager rolls their eyes, even when patience feels gone. You keep trusting because deep down you know He is there, holding your family together in ways you cannot fully explain.
Or the person sitting at a desk, staring at emails, wondering if the pressure will ever ease. You believe without seeing. You show integrity and effort not because the world rewards it, but because faith shapes who you are when no one is watching.
Maybe it is grief you carry quietly. You love Him through tears. You trust Him through loss. You believe even when words fail. Faith keeps your soul tethered to hope when sorrow tries to pull it under.
This is the faith that carries you through ordinary days and unseen battles. It does not demand applause. It does not need proof. It simply holds on. And that kind of faith will carry you through this year stronger, steadier, and more alive than you realize.
